Idiot Compassion – Giving Gone Wild!

How often have you said “yes” to giving someone what they want to avoid seeing them suffer or to avoid potential conflict? Have you given in, given up, or given too much far too easily? When doing so, you may think you’re offering genuine compassion, but this may really be idiotic pseudo-compassion, a well-meaning but misguided and counterproductive way of enabling others. True compassion takes wisdom, discernment about what’s really needed in a situation, tough love, and courage to say “no” in the face of fear, rejection and the pitfalls of co-dependence. Compassion calls upon us to be mindful and honest about our true reasons for giving, set clear boundaries and know when to say “enough!” Join us for a rousing discussion and learn how giving to yourself can actually be the most compassionate and empowering thing you can do for others. Imagine that!

Longing for Belonging? Finding Your “Soul Tribe” in a Technology-Obsessed World, Part 2

We as humans are hard-wired for deep connection and a sense of love and belonging. It is in the depth of our relationships that we find a true sense of acceptance, purpose, fulfillment, and meaning in our lives. But with the explosion of technology and social media, have we created a false sense of connection, one that compromises our ability to be truly seen, and allows us to hide behind a lonely veil of anonymity? Has the size of our Twitter following become more important than seeking out our “Soul Tribe,” a group of like-minded, consciously evolving, loving, supportive, and affirming face-to-face connections who deeply enrich our lives? Let’s explore this and the role of self-acceptance, worthiness, authenticity, and vulnerability in finding our “Soul Tribe” in our technology-obsessed world.

Walking Heads – Living From the Neck Up!

Do you live in your body or in your head? Your body is a complex all-access pass to your feelings and intuition, but you can’t tap into its’ infinite wisdom if you’re not in it. This intuitive inner voice is accessible to everyone, but it cannot be found in your rational mind, that incessant “chatter box” of misguided thoughts which distract you from hearing your body’s inner truth-teller and keep you comfortably numb. So how do you fully inhabit your body and put it in the driver’s seat of your life? Let’s explore the healing role of opening up a body-mind-soul collaboration, using self-compassion, conscious release of fear and resistance, and respectfully reconnecting and harmonizing with our body’s sensual and soul wisdom.

Binge Working – The 24/7 Work Epidemic

When a friend asks you “How are you?,” do you share a litany of projects you’re working hard on? Does a rare free moment trigger an internal alarm in you to get busy? When someone asks you what you do for fun, do you draw a blank? A toxic combination of being on a digital leash, the hypnotic effects of technology, economic anxiety, and caffeine is encouraging workers to push far beyond normal limits to surpass the competition by working nearly 24/7. If you base your value on what you do, rely on performance for validation, and if you’re not constantly working you feel like a slacker, then this show is for you! Let’s stop filling our time (with excessive work) and start making our time fulfilling, for a life well-lived and a self well-loved. You’re worth it !
